Our Sustainability work continues

At Nic, we aim to be a responsible and long-term partner. That’s why we’ve developed a three-year sustainability strategy based on the environmental goals of the UN and Orkla. You can read more about our objectives below and in our product catalogue.
You can find Orkla's strategy here:  www.orkla.com/sustainability.

What is "SUP"?

“SUP” stands for Single Use Plastics. The term comes from the EU Directive 2019/904, which aims to promote a circular economy and prevent plastic products from ending up in the environment, especially in the oceans. The directive came into effect in summer 2021 and, among other measures, banned the sale of single-use plastic spoons and straws within the EU.

All our cups are FSC-certified

FSC — the Forest Stewardship Council — is an independent, international organization that promotes environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management through its certification system.

Companies that follow FSC’s standards can become certified and are allowed to label their products with the FSC mark. This label assures consumers and businesses that the raw materials come from responsibly managed forests, where biodiversity, productivity, and ecological functions are maintained. That’s why Nic always chooses FSC-certified materials

We've reduced our use of plastic

Reducing single-use products in line with the SUP Directive remains an important part of Nic’s sustainability efforts. Together with our suppliers, we strive to find sustainable alternatives that take multiple factors into account, such as the CO² footprint.

We also work closely with our customers. For example, we helped one of our largest customers transition to more sustainable packaging. As a result, their consumption of paper, plastic, and water has been significantly reduced: –700 kg of plastic per year, –700 kg of cardboard per year, and –10,000 m³ of water per year.
